Embark on a breathtaking adventure with Taktok Brothers as we invite you to conquer Sishapangma, the 14th highest peak in the world, situated entirely in Tibet. Known as Xixapangma in the local Tibetan language, meaning “the mountain overlooking the grassy plains,” and also referred to as Gosainthan in Indian Nepalese, signifying a holy place, this expedition promises a unique and awe-inspiring experience.
Conquering the 14th Highest Peak: Sishapangma Ascent
The first ascent to the stunning Sishapangma was achieved in 1964 by Xu Xing and his team of 10 climbers. Despite being considered one of the easier 8000ers, Sishapangma presents a technical climb characterized by a long, steep southern face rising over 2000m, offering a jaw-dropping view to all beholders. Numerous successful ascents have been recorded, with most climbers reaching the West/Central summit at 8013m. The main summit, although a few hours away, remains highly technical and challenging. The climbing route involves snow and ice climbs, necessitating crampons and ice axes with fixed ropes along the route.
Expedition Ease: Short Approach and Scenic Base Camp
The Sishapangma expedition is made more accessible due to the short approach to the base camp. The road extends till 5000m, from where the trek commences. Yaks and porters carry luggage to the base camps, making the journey efficient and manageable.
Journey Details: Kathmandu to Base Camp
Our journey to Sishapangma commences in Kathmandu, taking us to the Nepal-China border, Kerung. Crossing the border, we find ourselves in the beautiful old Tibetan town of Tingri. From there, we drive to the Base Camp at 5000m, eliminating trekking time and ensuring a smooth transition to the expedition.

However, it demands a strong level of physical fitness and endurance.
