Trip Overview

Putha Hiunchuli, also known as Dhaulagiri VII, stands as an enchanting 7000 m peak situated to the west of Annapurna and south of Ganesh Himal within the Dhaulagiri range. The inaugural ascent of this captivating peak took place in 1954, led by J.O.M. Roberts and Ang Nyima Sherpa via the Northeast route.

Nestled in the remote Dolpo region, Putha Hiunchuli marks the terminus of the Dhaulagiri chain to the west. Venturing through less-explored areas with sparse population and abundant wilderness, the trek offers a diverse array of landscapes, ecosystems, and lifestyles. Although rural and remote, the experience rewards adventurers with the beauty, tranquility, and serenity found in the embrace of nature. Moreover, Putha Hiunchuli beckons skiing enthusiasts, making it a must-visit destination for those passionate about skiing.

While Putha Hiunchuli presents a considerable challenge to climbers, it is not classified as a difficult peak, owing to slopes that rise at angles less than 35 degrees throughout the ascent. This makes it an excellent choice for those aspiring to ascend higher 7000ers and even 8000ers. The expedition serves as an ideal preparation and a significant step into high-altitude mountaineering. Our team of highly experienced and professional Sherpas will provide comprehensive support during the entire expedition.

We will establish three higher camps above the Base Camp before embarking on the summit push. The Base Camp will be set up at 4900 m, followed by Camp I at 5500 m, Camp II at 6150 m, and Camp 3 at 6350 m above the glacier. Our experienced Sherpas will meticulously set up all camps, while our High Camp cooks will serve freshly prepared, high-quality food. With no compromises in service, be prepared for a top-notch expedition journey to Putha Hiunchuli, the Dhaulagiri VII.

Mental preparedness and physical training are essential for those planning to embark on the Putha Hiunchuli Expedition.

Trip Notes

Preparation and Training: Climbers are advised to thoroughly prepare their bodies and minds to adapt to remoteness, high altitude, and separation from families. Pack lightly with fewer valuable belongings. Bring cotton clothes for your stay in Kathmandu and warm attire for the Himalayas. Always carry a copy of your passport and photos.

Weather Dependency: Trekking and mountain climbing in the Mountain Region are subject to weather conditions. While we plan trips at optimal times, extreme scenarios may cause delays or cancellations of domestic flights to Nepalgunj and Juphal. In such cases, any additional expenses beyond the specified itinerary days are the client’s responsibility. Taktok Brothers will arrange accommodation for porters and guides. If you prefer alternative arrangements, such as a helicopter flight to avoid delays, we can organize it at a nominal extra charge.

Missed International Flights: Taktok Brothers is not liable for compensating losses due to missed international flights. However, we are committed to helping minimize any inconvenience. To avoid missing flights, consider keeping flexible time frames before and after the trip.

Itinerary Adjustments: Traveling in remote areas with challenging conditions may require itinerary adjustments. Trail distortions can occur, necessitating flexibility. Rest assured, Taktok Brothers prioritizes maintaining the highest quality of service under all circumstances.
