Embark on a monumental journey with Taktok Brothers to conquer the awe-inspiring Mt. K2, the second-highest peak globally, standing proudly at 8,611 meters. Nestled in the Karakoram Range of the Gilgit-Baltistan Region, administered by Pakistan, K2 holds great historical and natural significance. Named after English geographer Godwin Austen, it was the second gauged peak in the Karakoram region.
Historical Summit: Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni etched their names in history as the first to reach the summit of this majestic peak on July 31, 1954. Since then, K2 has been conquered by thousands of mountaineers, earning nicknames like “The King of the Mountains,” “The Mountaineers’ Mountain,” and Chhogori.
Challenges of K2: K2, also known as the killer mountain, offers a brilliant expedition for those seeking extreme adventure and possessing prior experience in the Himalayas. Despite being the second-highest peak, the journey to its summit is exceptionally challenging, requiring a level of mountaineering experience equivalent to Mount Everest. The ascent is considered tougher than Everest due to steepness, unpredictable weather, technical climbs from day one, and a lack of experienced Sherpas.
Best Season to Conquer K2: The most appropriate seasons for the climb are spring and summer, with July and August being the warmest months. Experience the magnanimous beauty of this lonely mountain during these months.

On the second day, we will handle the official procedures, travel permits, documentation, and expedition preparations. You will have the chance to meet your fellow trekkers and ensure all expedition requirements are in order.
After an early morning breakfast, a flight will take you to the picturesque city of Skardu, situated in Gilgit-Baltistan at 2228m above sea level. A day in Skardu allows you to acclimatize and explore the city's exciting attractions. Our guides will provide comprehensive expedition briefings and preparations on the following day.
Following a comfortable stay in Skardu, we embark on a thrilling drive to Askole. Askole serves as the last outpost before venturing into the wilderness of the Karakoram. The journey is an approximately seven-hour, 128-kilometer jeep ride from Skardu. Upon arrival in Askole, you will set up camp for your expedition.
Starting from Askole, you'll begin to witness the breathtaking beauty of the Karakoram region. After breakfast, the trek to Jhola (3185m) begins, allowing you to avoid the midday heat while ascending 385m in altitude. You will set up camp in Jhola after a leisurely hike.
As per our schedule, we continue our journey towards the peaks of Paiyu. A total altitude of 3383m will be reached upon reaching Paiyu, where we'll camp for the next two days. Despite rumors, Paiyu is a serene location with well-equipped camps.
After two days of continuous trekking, we take a one-day break at Paiyu, located in the Karakoram Region. You'll have the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Paiyu Peak and enjoy a full day of relaxation before proceeding to Urdukas.
Following a well-deserved break in Paiyu, the trek to Urdukas (4130m) awaits. This challenging day involves traversing the rocky moraines of the Baltoro Glacier. However, the spectacular sights of Paiyu Peak and Trango are bound to astonish you. Upon reaching Urdukas, you'll establish your camp and prepare for Goro.
After the demanding trek to Urdukas, you will trek to Goro II on the tenth day of your expedition. This day offers some relief, with an ascent of only 120m from Urdukas (4250m to Goro (4250m). Upon reaching the heart of Concordia, you'll be surrounded by ice and presented with breathtaking views of Masherbrum, Muztagh Tower, and Gasherbrum IV. If weather conditions permit, you may witness a magnificent dawn and the red hue over Masherbrum.
As we continue toward the Mt. K2 base camp, the Baltoro Glacier and Broad Base Camp reveal the grandeur of Mustagh Tower (7,284m), Gasherbrum (8,080m), and Broad Peak itself (8,051m). Trekking to Broad Base Camp, an ascent of 322m, marks the eleventh day of your journey. Upon arrival at Broad Base Camp, you'll find yourself in Concordia, a vast expanse of the glacier, while K2 remains hidden.
After marveling at four eight-thousanders from Broad Base Camp, you will ascend to Mt. K2 Base Camp, a pivotal day of your expedition. This day's journey involves crossing small glacier rivers and gradually reaching the traditional K2 Base Camp, exclusively designed for K2 climbers. With an elevation gain of approximately 578m from Broad Base Camp, you'll be eager to rest upon reaching K2 Base Camp.
After a short stay at the Base Camp, you will prepare for the climb. Your route will encompass high camps 1, 2, and 3, with at least one rotation climb prior to the summit attempt. Our team of Sherpas will secure the routes up to the summit. During this period, you will receive training in the use of expedition equipment and closely monitor weather conditions for your ascent to the summit. If everything goes as planned, the summit of K2 is anticipated on July 31 or August 1. Following the triumphant summit of K2, you will spend precious moments taking in the breathtaking surroundings. Standing atop the world's second-highest mountain, surrounded by towering peaks, is an unparalleled experience for any mountaineer. After savoring the summit, you will descend to Base Camp to rest overnight.
Following the summit, preparations for the descent back to the high camps and the Base Camp will begin. You'll rest at the Base Camp for one night, gearing up for the descent to lower elevations.
After one night of rest at the Base Camp, the descent continues. You will follow the descent route, retracing your steps through Gora II, Khuburtze, Mundung, and eventually return to Askole, a small town in the Shigar valley.
As per your itinerary, you will drive back to Skardu, enjoying comfort after the arduous descent from the mountain. After freshening up, you'll be ready for the flight to Islamabad.
From Skardu, you will take a flight back to Islamabad, relishing one last aerial view of the capital city.
Upon completing your fifty-day expedition, you'll have a free day in Islamabad to explore cultural sites like the Pakistan Monument, Lok Virsa Museum, Faisal Mosque, Margalla Hills, and Daman-e-Koh.
Your K2 expedition comes to an end on this day, and it's time to bid farewell with countless memories. A Taktok Brothers Trek and Expedition representative will accompany you to Islamabad Airport several hours before your scheduled flight.
