Embark on an extraordinary journey with Taktok Brothers to conquer the majestic Mt. Manaslu, standing tall at 8,163 m in the Manisiri Himal Range, making it the 8th highest mountain in the world. Known as the “Mountain of the Spirits,” Manaslu derives its name from the Sanskrit word “Manasa,” meaning “Intellect.” This challenging peak has earned a reputation as the 4th most dangerous mountain, following Annapurna, Nanga Parbat, and K2, due to the number of deaths during its expeditions.
Historic Ascent: The first ascent to this remarkable peak was achieved in 1956 by T. Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu during a Japanese Expedition. Although the legal permit to climb Mt. Manaslu was granted in 1991, six climbing routes have been discovered to date, with the south route being the most challenging. Renowned as a preliminary choice before Mt. Everest, Manaslu offers diverse landscapes, broad glacial valleys, long ridges, and moderate slopes, providing an unparalleled adventure opportunity to mountaineers.
Enchanting Trekking Route: The trekking route to Manaslu is a captivating journey along the Budhi Gandaki river, passing through picturesque villages rich in culture and traditions. After traversing dense forests and climbing uphill for 9 adventurous days, we reach the Manaslu Base Camp. Our stay at Sama Gaon allows acclimatization and relaxation in a beautiful village of farmers and traders, with a visit to the Buddhist Monastery as a major highlight.
Summit Expedition: Summiting Mt. Manaslu involves setting up four camps above the Base Camp. The climbing route progresses through moderate-angled snowy slopes in the lower parts, with steepness increasing above Camp 1. Experienced Sherpas will fix ropes through a series of short ice bulges to reach a flat col for the campsite. Beyond this point, climbing a series of moderate snow slopes and plateaus leads to a steep snowy ridge, culminating in the Grand Summit of Manaslu.
As you anticipate this awaited adventure, the Manaslu Expedition promises not only thrill and excitement but also an opportunity to explore the captivating beauty of the region.
Best Season for Mt. Manaslu Expedition: The optimal season for Himalayan expeditions is autumn, from mid-September to mid-January, when the forests are lush green, waterfalls are raging, and the ecosystem is active. While expeditions can be organized at other times of the year, the concerns revolve around cold and rain. Taktok Brothers can also arrange private trips to adventurous destinations in any season for groups with a minimum of nine participants.
Reservation for Mt. Manaslu Expedition 2023 Autumn is now open.

Over a 25-day stretch, the pinnacle of our expedition unfolds as we conquer the world's 7th highest peak. Throughout this crucial period, our itinerary remains flexible, adapted to the ever-changing weather conditions and the team's readiness, guided by the expedition leader's seasoned judgment. Essential days are devoted to honing climbers' skills, including rope mastery, crampon techniques, navigating rock and ice with fixed ropes, and crucial acclimatization. Four strategically positioned camps await above the Base Camp, facilitating several rotations to acclimate to the altitude and conditions. For the summit push, a predawn departure is planned to ensure an early morning summit, cherishing the breathtaking sunrise atop Mt. Manaslu. Upon our triumphant summit of Mt. Manaslu, we diligently clean the base camp area, ensuring we leave behind no trace. With a mix of accomplishment, weariness, and joy, we gear up to trace our steps back to Sama Gaon.
