Embark on an exhilarating journey with Taktok Brothers to conquer the majestic Himlung Himal, standing proudly at 7,126 meters. Nestled in the Northern Annapurna Region of Nepal, close to Tibet, Himlung Himal offers an aspiring challenge for mountaineers seeking the perfect blend of beauty, adventure, and learning.
Historic Ascent: In 1992, a Japanese expedition team made the first ascent to Himlung Himal, paving the way for subsequent climbers. Besides being an ideal preliminary peak before tackling 8,000-meter peaks, Himlung Himal provides a classic trekking experience through the serene Nar Phu and Manang valleys. This isolated tranquil peak is a gateway to self-assessment, testing endurance, and experiencing the Himalayas.
Ski Expedition Destination: Himlung Himal stands out as the best destination for Ski Expedition enthusiasts. If you are a ski lover, the breathtaking slopes of Himlung Himal at an elevation of 7,126m make it a must-go destination.
Expedition Details: While the climb to Himlung Himal is less demanding compared to other peaks above 7,000m, caution and preparation are essential. We establish base camp at 4,925m, followed by Camp 1 at 5,435m, Camp 2 at around 5,800m, and Camp 3 at 6,210m. Crossing steep crevasses, ridges, and slopes, we summit the peak, returning to base camp to prepare for our descent.
Best Season for Expedition: The best seasons for the Himlung Himal Expedition are between October-November and April-May. During these periods, calmer winds, sunny days, mild temperatures, and the gorgeous trail adorned with green dense forests, rivers, and grand massifs create an unforgettable experience. Explore the Nar-Phu villages, where locals stay with their livestock, adding to the beauty of the journey.
Join Taktok Brothers on this adventure of a lifetime, where every step is a testament to your strength and determination. We offer the best value for the price, ensuring a memorable and rewarding expedition.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a Taktok Brothers team representative will be waiting to assist. Following your Nepal Entry Visa procedure, you'll be transferred to a selected hotel (ranging from 3-star to 5-star upon request) for relaxation.
This day is dedicated to completing official tasks, obtaining necessary permits, and briefing about the expedition. Use this time for any essential shopping. Be prepared for an early departure the following day.
A private jeep journey awaits as we drive via the Kathmandu-Pokhara highway to Dumre. From there, navigating rough rocky roads, we'll pass picturesque paddy fields and villages to reach Besisahar, the main city of Lamjung District. The travel time from Kathmandu is approximately 8 hours.
Embark on an adventurous 5-6 hour Jeep ride from Besisahar to Koto through scenic villages, farmlands, and forests. Koto marks the juncture between the Annapurna Circuit and Nar Phu Trekking Trails. Conclude the day with a hearty dinner and rest.
Our trek kicks off from Koto, crossing rivers leading to the Nar-Phu valley. Hiking through lush forests, settlements, and Dharamshala, we'll encounter a captivating narrow canyon and scenic waterfall. The trek culminates at Meta, a winter residence for Nar inhabitants.
Traverse challenging terrain amidst Tibetan-like settlements, vibrant pastures, and suspension bridges. Witness unique Chhortens, glacial streams, and the Phu gate before arriving at Phu Village. Acclimate to altitude and explore the locale.
After exploring Phu Gaon, ascend towards the Himlung Himal Base Camp, navigating Pangri Glacier and moraines. Relax and acclimatize at the comfortable Base Camp.
Sixteen days are designated for camp rotations, the final ascent towards the summit, and the return to Himlung Himal Base Camp. Base Camp to Camp 1: Commencing from the Base Camp, the journey to Camp 1 involves a moderate 2-3 hour trek through trekking terrains featuring moraines and small valleys. Camp 1, positioned at 5435 meters, is managed by our highly skilled team members offering full board services. Camp 1 to Camp 2: Referred to as Glacier Camp, Camp 2 rests on a relatively level glacier accessed by navigating a series of twisted turns on the glacier's side after a challenging perched scree slope. Extra caution is necessary while navigating this scree. Camp 2 to Camp 3: Situated at 6210 meters, Camp 3 is strategically located, minimizing the risk of avalanches. Progressing on an icy escarpment up to the ridge's penultimate point leads to Camp 3. Camp 3 to Summit: Ascending from Camp 3 to the summit involves a lengthy climb. Negotiating snowy slopes with a 30-degree steepness gradually transitions into less steep gradients with occasional flat surfaces. Further ascent includes steeper crevasses up to a 35-degree slope, crossing a comparatively less steep ridge onto a flat surface preceding the final slope towards the summit.
After the successful ascent, return to Base Camp, tidy the area, settle tips, and pack for the journey back to Phu Gaon.
Bid farewell to Himlung Himal and trek back to Phu Gaon for an overnight stay.
Retrace steps back to Meta, appreciating familiar landscapes, and rest overnight.
Continue through picturesque villages, lush forests, river crossings via suspension bridges, and rest overnight in Koto.
Conclude the trek at Koto and return to Besisahar via a private jeep, relishing the natural beauty.
Journey back to Kathmandu, unwind, and relax at the hotel.
Explore UNESCO World Heritage sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, Patan, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Gather for a farewell dinner in the evening at a traditional Nepali restaurant.
Concluding the Peak summit expedition, bid farewell with cherished memories. Our representative will accompany you to Airport a few hours prior to your scheduled flight.
