Embark on an unforgettable journey with Taktok Brothers to explore the sacred Damodar Kunda (Lake) situated in the Damodar Himal at an elevation of 4890 meters. This revered pilgrimage trek takes you to a basin that holds immense religious significance and is believed to cleanse all sins during a bath in its holy waters. The Damodar Kunda is also the origin of the Gandaki River, nestled in the stunning Tibetan plateau landscape.
Located in the restricted Upper Mustang region, this trek requires special permits, all of which Taktok Brothers will handle for you. No need to worry about documentation; we’ve got you covered.
The trek commences in the enchanting town of Jomsom, leading to Kagbeni along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. As we ascend from Kagbeni to Chele and eventually reach Lo Manthang, the trail unfolds through picturesque villages. Continuing our journey from Lo Manthang, we venture towards Damodar Kunda, retracing our steps on the return leg. Throughout the trek, you’ll encounter Sherpa-inhabited villages, preserving a lifestyle reminiscent of Tibetans, along with centuries-old monasteries steeped in culture.
Given the remote nature of this region, lacking tourism infrastructure, we’ll be setting up camps for overnight stays. This demanding yet immensely rewarding trek requires participants to be physically strong and fit due to the off-the-beaten-path and rugged terrain.
Optimal seasons for this adventure are Spring and Autumn, offering clear views and a truly satisfying experience. Additionally, the Upper Mustang region, falling within the rain shadow, can be explored during the Monsoon season.
