Cholatse Peak stands as one of the challenging 6000-meter peaks nestled between the Khumbu and Gokyo Valley. With its steep and soaring lines, coupled with a formidable southwest ridge, Mt. Cholatse presents a significant challenge, making it an enticing prospect for Himalayan alpinists with prior climbing experience. The rewards offered by the summit are indeed precious in light of the difficulties faced.
The peak was first conquered in 1982 by Vern Clevenger, Galen Rowell, John Roskelley, and Bill O’Connor via the southwest ridge, a route followed by climbers ever since.
Cholatse Peak Climbing provides an exceptional opportunity to test one’s endurance in the serene and secluded surroundings of the Everest region. As a preference for experienced climbers, the crowd is considerably less compared to other popular peaks like Mera Peak and Island Peak.
The trek to the base camp commences with a domestic flight to Lukla, leading through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Dole, Machherma, Gokyo, Thagnak, Base Camp, and finally reaching the summit. The return journey retraces the path back to Lukla, culminating in a flight back to Kathmandu.
A highlight of the trek is the enchanting Namche Bazaar, inhabited by Sherpas with rich local culture and traditions. The exploration of Gokyo Valley reveals its pristine beauty, and an adventure to Gokyo Ri for acclimatization offers serene views of the mystical Gokyo lakes.

Climbers are advised to adequately prepare and train both their bodies and minds to adapt to the remoteness, high altitude, and separation from their families. It is recommended to carry limited valuable belongings. Pack both cotton clothes for your stay in Kathmandu and warm ones for the Himalayas. Always carry a copy of your passport and photos with you.
Trekking and mountain climbing in the Everest Region are significantly influenced by weather conditions. While we aim to schedule our trips at the most favorable times, in extreme scenarios, domestic flights to Lukla may experience delays or cancellations. In such cases, please note that expenses for additional days, beyond the total mentioned in the itinerary section, will be borne by the client. However, Taktok Brothers will make necessary arrangements for the accommodation of porters and guides. If you prefer alternative arrangements, such as a helicopter flight to avoid delays, we can organize it at a nominal extra charge.
Taktok Brothers shall not be liable for any compensation for losses due to missed international flights, but we will assist in making necessary arrangements to minimize your loss. To avoid missing flights, we recommend maintaining flexible time frames before trip departure and after trip completion.
Please be aware that as we will be traveling in remote areas with extreme climatic conditions and challenging geography, where trails may be distorted, we might need to adjust our itineraries as required. Rest assured that the quality of service will not be compromised at any cost.
Expedition costs vary based on factors such as group size, royalty and permit costs in different seasons, category of hotel accommodation, the number of Sherpas allocated, equipment, and the type of arrangement and package customization. We prefer discussing with our clients before providing the cost. Please feel free to contact Taktok Brothers for information on your selected package.
